Protecting Children from Harmful Practices in Plural Legal Systems

On the occasion of the first International Day of the Girl Child, the SRSG on Violence against Children, Plan International, and the Permanent Mission of Angola will organize a panel discussion on protecting children from harmful practices in plural legal systems on Thursday, 11 October, at 8.30-9.30 a.m. in Conference Room 7, North Lawn Building, at UN Headquarters in New York City.

Objectives of the event are to launch the thematic report “Protecting Children from Harmful Practices in Plural Legal Systems”; to raise awareness about root causes and consequences of harmful practices against children, building upon children’s advocacy; and to discuss enhanced cooperation at national, regional and international levels to consolidate progress in children’s protection from harmful practices.

We want to announce that Michelle Bachelet will be speaking with the youth delegates, at the WGG Youth Delegate Orientation on February 26, 2012. 

Pre-registration is required and must be done by Feb. 17th.

Registration will open February 26 at 8:30am – 9:30am and the Orientation itself will begin at 9:45am and end at 4:00pm.
