Recommendations for the General Assembly during its 66th session are indeed very timely! While I am very counscious of how the girl child is discriminated against, the girl child with 'differing abilities' is doubly discriminated against. I urge you to read this new fact sheet and share your comments. Due to the high occurrence of foeticides, infanticides, including newborn neglect and abandonment, is a root cause of a female child being violated as a human person. The root causes, so well known against the Girl-Child reflect diverse political, economical, social, cultural and religious practices. Until these factors are seriously addressed and corrected, the life-cycle of our cherished female children remain deprived, neglected, and violated throughout her life. Dear Hourig & Sara,

The effects of chronic malnutrition in the first two years of life on brain development are largely irreversible, -another reason why waiting until age ten to invest in girls is too late.
